Conemaugh Health System Announces new CEO

August 15, 2016

Conemaugh Health System announced today that Steve Tucker, CEO of Conemaugh’s hospital division and president of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, has been promoted to serve as system CEO, effective immediately. Tucker replaces long-time system CEO Scott Becker, who recently announced plans to retire. Becker will remain with the system to support this transition through the end of September.

“Steve’s extensive experience in healthcare administration combined with his deep understanding of west-central Pennsylvania’s dynamic healthcare market make him a natural for this position,” said Jeff Seraphine, president of LifePoint Health’s Eastern Group, of which Conemaugh Health System is a part. “He has done a tremendous job leading the Conemaugh Memorial campus over the years, and we couldn’t be more excited to elevate him into this new role.”

Having served as a leader in the Conemaugh Health System for more than 30 years, Tucker currently leads the Conemaugh Memorial campus and is responsible for administrative oversight for the hospital division, which he helped develop in 2011 to further integrate the facilities. Prior to his current position, Tucker served as vice president of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Throughout his tenure at Conemaugh, Tucker has successfully led numerous initiatives aimed at strengthening the system’s financial and operational performance that range from capital projects to an award-winning culture campaign focused on service excellence.

“We are fortunate to have such a strong future leader right here among us,” said Frank Quitoni, chair of Conemaugh Health System’s Board of Trustees. “Steve is a results-oriented, compassionate leader who has wholeheartedly served this community for more than 30 years. We will certainly miss Scott and wish him all the best in his retirement, but we know the system will be in good hands with Steve going forward.”

Tucker is a magna cum laude graduate of Temple University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He also earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). Tucker is actively involved in the community serving on the boards for the Greater Johnstown – Cambria County Chamber of Commerce (previous chairman) and Johnstown Area Regional Industries (JARI).

“It is such a privilege to serve the people of Johnstown and our surrounding communities,” said Tucker. “I will be forever grateful to Scott for his exemplary leadership and am eager to continue looking for ways to build upon the foundation that Scott and so many others have laid.”
