Medical Student Rotations
Thank you for your interest in Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center's Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Scheduling a rotation is a great way to learn more about the program and our expectations.
Students plan rotations in the fourth year of medical school to audition for programs of interest. Many of our residents that match at our program have rotated at our facility, and we encourage all interested medical students to consider a rotation to experience our program and its benefits to see if our program is a good fit for you.
On April 21, 2016 the program was granted initial accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). In 2018, we received continued accreditation. To maintain a dynamic residency, the program will maintain a strong presence of osteopathic trained students in addition to those students from allopathic institutions. We are happy to review your request for a rotation, and strive to gain your interest as an ACGME program.
Medical Students interested in completing an audition rotation at our facility should complete an application.
Requirements:
- Comlex/USLME scores
- Internal Medicine and General Surgery rotations required prior to the EM rotation
- Completed application
Complete the application and email all required documents (i.e. comlex/uslme scores and CV) inquiries to the EM Program Coordinator: dmachak@conemaugh.org
Once rotation has been scheduled and confirmed you must provide
- Required background clearances - you must allow enough time to receive results
- PA State Police Criminial Record Check
- PA Child Abuse History
- FBI/PA Department of Human Services
- PA Department of Aging (if you have not lived in Pennsylvania for the past 2 years)
Please note for regulatory purposes, we cannot sponsor any medical student rotators from medical schools outside the United States for rotation; however, we definitely consider the residency applications of both US and international medical graduates in the match itself.
A Program Letter of Agreement is also necessary prior to the rotation. If one is not on file with the hospital, allow 3 months
Please email dmachak@conemaugh.org with any questions or concerns.
Please email Tracy Yoder, tyoder@conemaugh.org Medical Student Coordinator with any questions concerning the background checks.
