Conemaugh General Surgery Residency Interview Process

Once the candidate’s application and credentials have been reviewed and approved by the General Surgery Residency Program Director, the Program Coordinator will email an interview invitation along with hotel reservation confirmation, and directions prior to the candidate’s interview.

The General Surgery Residency Program is a participant in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) from the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Application Requirements

  • Personal Statement
  • Portrait
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Official medical school transcript
  • Dean's letter - MSPE
  • USME Part 1 & 2 and / or COMLEX score Part 1 & 2
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • No more than four (4) years since graduating from medical school
  • No prior U.S. experience is required

Interview Itinerary

6 pm , Meet and Greet all General Surgery Residents and Program Coordinator

7 – 8 am,  Attend 1 General Surgery educational lecture
8:30 am – noon, Interview process with four surgery attendings and PGY 4 surgery residents
Noon – 1 pm, Lunch with General Surgery Residents and attendings
1 – 2 pm, Tour of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center with resident
