Thunder in the Valley
In June, 1998, Johnstown hosted its first motorcycle rally. That may not seem like a big deal, but for a town that had been most recognized for its history, the annual Thunder in the Valley® Motorcycle Rally has helped to create a new identity for Johnstown. Historic downtown Johnstown is the hub of the rally. Multiple venues with food booths, vendors, live music, kids’ activities, manufacturer displays, demo rides, and stunt shows offer something for everyone. The Thunder Bolt Saloons offer Anheuser-Busch products and a variety of mixed drinks at three outdoor venues. The official Thunder Parade rolls through the town at high noon on Saturday, where thousands line the street to watch the seemingly endless stream of motorcycles rumble by. Local restaurants and bars welcome bikers with events and promotions, and other organizations host poker runs, hill climbs, bike contests and other activities. No admission fee!
