Curriculum
Conemaugh’s Emergency Medicine Residency is designed to prepare graduates for American Board of Emergency (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM) certification. To support this goal, the curriculum provides residents with the knowledge and skills to rapidly evaluate and treat patients of all levels of acuity.
Conemaugh's Emergency Medicine Program is comprised of in-house rotations in Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medical Services, Critical Care, General Surgery, Trauma and Internal Medicine. Residents also rotate at A.I. Dupont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware for Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and PICU rotations. Didactics are composed of:
- Weekly conference with core faculty to discuss cases associated with modules to reinforce didactic modules and answer questions.
- Weekly plenary lecture consisting of invited speakers, special topical discussions or core faculty lectures on topical areas.
- Frequent use of Conemaugh's Medical Skills Learning Center for class instruction, training for procedures, ultrasounds, resident presentations, or Emergency Medicine case discussions.
- Monthly journal club.
